prayer before meditation

Father, you created
me
and put me on
earth
for a purpose.
Jesus you died for
me
and called me
to complete your
work.
Holy Spirit,
you help me
carry
out the work
for
which I was
created
and called.
In your presence
and name, Father,
Son,
and Holy
Spirit,
I begin my
meditation.
May all
my thoughts
and
inspirations
have
their origin in you and
be directed
to
your greater honor
and glory.

thursday / wk 6 / ord / may 16 the nail
Jesus said, "The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priest, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will rise to life. Mark 8:31
There's an old poem that goes something like this:
I put a nail in my wallet for no nobody but me to see-- as a personal reminder that the Son of God died for me. Each time I reach in my pocket, pull out and open my wallet the nail is there reminding me of the price Jesus paid for me. And so the nail in my wallet reminds me in a loving way to strive to serve Jesus better in all I do and all I say.
What did I do for Jesus yesterday? What might I do for him today?
Today's opportunities erase yesterday's failures. Gene Brown ____________________________

week 127 - day 5
friday / wk 6 / ord / may 17 the last act
Do you gain anything if you win the whole world but lose your life? Mark 8:36
Jon Robin Baitz wrote a three- act play called "Three Hotels." The first act, introduces us to a business executive, Kenneth. He makes a fortune selling baby food to African mothers. He is aware that the food is bad for babies; but he closes his eyes to this fact. The second act in- troduces us to his wife. She is destroyed by what her husband is doing The last act is years later. Kenneth sits alone, destroyed by the pain he's caused so many people. He has lost all: his job, his marriage, his soul!
Is there anything in my life that threatens the loss of my soul?
Each is given a bag of tools, A shapeless mass, A book of rules; And each must make-- Ere life is flown-- A stumbling block Or a stepping stone. R. L. Sharpe ___________________________
